LoL Placement Matches — What They Decide
The Mechanic That Makes This Worth Buying
Every split opens with five placement matches, and during them you cannot lose LP.
Read that again, because it's the whole argument. The floor is fixed at zero. A bad placement game costs you nothing in LP terms. A good one gains. Which means the distribution of outcomes across those five games runs from "no change" upward — there is no downside scenario.
Every other game you play for the rest of the split can take LP off you. These five can't.
That's an unusually generous mechanic and most players waste it by queueing their placements half-asleep on a Tuesday after work, which is exactly when they're least likely to convert the free upside.
What Placements Actually Set
Two things, and the second one matters more than people realise.
Your visible rank for the start of the split. The obvious one. Where you appear on the ladder and where you begin climbing from.
Your hidden MMR going into the split. The less obvious one, and the reason a good placement run keeps paying afterwards. If placements leave you with MMR above your visible rank, you'll gain something like +28 LP per win and lose only −18, and the climb afterwards accelerates. If they leave your MMR lagging, it's closer to +14 and −28, and every game for weeks afterwards is a grind.
So placements aren't just a starting position. They set the exchange rate on every game you play after them.
Why the Floor Matters Across Three Splits
League now runs three ranked splits a year — Season 1 from January, Season 2 from April, Season 3 from August into early January 2027. Each has its own Victorious skin and its own deadline.
Which means placements now happen three times annually rather than once. Three separate opportunities to convert free upside, and three separate chances to squander it.
A tier gained at placements is a tier you don't spend a week of evenings climbing. Multiply that across three splits and it's a meaningful amount of your year.
What's Included
Your five placement matches played manually by a verified Master or Challenger booster, in Offline Mode, on your server, on the champions and role you nominate.
Every LP gained, every bit of MMR seeded, and your resulting rank all stay on your account — along with an honest read afterwards on whether a rank climb on top is worth it from where you landed, or whether your floor is good enough to climb yourself.
A Note on Honor Level
Worth flagging here because placements are the start of a split and this is the moment to fix it.
Split rewards require Honor Level 2 or higher. At Honor 0 or 1 you forfeit the Victorious skin, the borders, the icons and the Hextech rewards regardless of where you finish.
Placing well and then climbing to Diamond earns you nothing at all if your Honor is sitting at 1 when the split closes. Check it now rather than in December. If it's low, we can raise it through the custom offer form as part of the same order — and doing it at the start of a split is far easier than scrambling at the end.
Three Things to Check Before Ordering
How many placements you have left. Five is a full package. If you've already played two, we price three. Your match history answers this in thirty seconds and it changes the quote.
Your role. The performance that converts a placement game differs by role, and a booster on their main converts more of a five-game sample than one filling a gap. Tell us and we'll match accordingly.
Where you finished last split. It shapes what placements can realistically land, and it lets your booster give you a target before starting rather than a shrug afterwards.
Answer those three in live chat and we'll tell you what's realistic before you spend anything — including, when it's the honest answer, that your own five games would do fine.
